"Exploring Healing in the Sufi Tradition" with Melissa Clare. Sufism is a mystical path with a lineage that goes back to the 7th century. Sufism has been called "the religion of the heart" and "a place where all healing traditions meet." It provides a path that respects all spiritual ways, honoring the embodiment of the Divine in nature and in our human life experience. The Sufi Healing Order draws on the energy of the Universe - working with breath, sound and light - to increase our healing capacity while recognizing that the source of healing is Spirit. Melissa will introduce some techniques for supporting our own healing. Ms. Clare is a minister in the Sufi Universal Worship, a Plant Spirit Medicine practitioner, and a firekeeper for the Sacred Fire Community. She lives in Eureka Springs.

3 p.m. - 4p.m. Workshop: (at the church, free & open to the public) "Five Wishes: Choosing Our Care at the End-of-Life" Living Wills, Hospice, and End-of-Life Care can seem like scary or depressing topics to discuss. But the decisions we each need to make are best made when we are healthy and clear-headed. Join G. Leigh Wilkerson, BS, BSN, RN for a lively discussion (really!) on making the last season of our lives the way we want it to be. All mortals invited! In particular, Leigh will discuss the Five Wishes Document, a legal living-will, written in everyday language, by an attorney who wanted to improve end of life care in the United States. Even if you already have a living will, there will be information in this class that may surprise you. Leigh is a long-time hospice nurse, poet and author of a series of Limbertwig Press guidebooks that have helped over 100,000 hospice families feel more prepared, at peace and confident as caregivers. Newsletter Options
I would like to offer the option of an e-mail edition of the newsletter in addition to a mailed hard copy.
While copy costs have remained steady, postage has risen 3 cents this year and another 3 cent raise has been requested with the year not yet half over.
Don't forget, we are still short on our matching funds for the building grant. Just put your donations in and envelope marked BUILDING.
If you are interested in receiving this newsletter electronically, please e-mail me your name and e-mail address. Be sure to permit mail from my address with your security system. My e-mail is: evensonj@arkansas.net. Let me know if you want the e-mail edition in lieu of or in addition to a hard copy. Instead of the August issue, this should begin in September. I am continuing to build a list of member's birthdays, so please send me yours.
Thanks, Joan
Members-please have information you wish to have in the newsletter to me the 21st of the month for the next newsletter.
Please let me know about birthdays for the coming month, too.
